GBO NATURALS COMPETITOR GUIDELINES

 

 

Global Bodybuilding Organization was formed with the premise of keeping true to an “athlete first” competition friendly atmosphere.

Please read all of the following information carefully and keep this information as a reference. It should answer most of your questions.

We want you to enjoy your experience, have fun, and practice good sportsmanship.

 

 

1. COMPETITION RULES

   1. All GBO Naturals will be governed under the same criteria and all additional rules listed with the GBO untested and general guidelines.

   2. All GBO Naturals overall open class winners, first place masters winners, and GBO Naturals Professionals earning a monetary win in their division will be required to submit urine testing by GBO staff immediately after leaving the stage. The sample is immediately sent to our laboratory in California.

   3. All athletes must be drug free while staying compliant with the WADA Anti-Doping Code. GBO tests are comparable to WADA tests.

   4. Additional random testing may be conducted at the discretion of the event promoter.

   5. Athletes will pay for a portion of the drug testing through the entry fee at each tested event.

 

1. CROSSOVERS GBO / GBO NATURALS

   1. GBO Natural athletes will be allowed to compete in events that do not offer tested divisions. If an event offers both untested and naturals, an athlete can compete in both however if an athlete wins pro status at a tested event, he/she would have to wait for test results before any pro status is awarded for both tested and untested, if the athlete is awarded pro status in both.

   2. The above rule will also apply to all GBO Naturals Professional Athletes. If an event does not offer tested divisions, athletes will be allowed to enter a non-tested pro division if they elect to do so. However, if both tested and non-tested professional divisions are offered the athlete must decide during the registration process how he/she would like to compete. Athletes will not be able to make any changes to how they will compete once registration is closed. This rule applies to Professional athletes only.

   3. GBO Naturals will honor the current pro status of all Natural Pro Athletes from any federation. A GBO Naturals Pro membership will need to be purchased in addition to providing proof of pro status (current pro card).

1. DRUG TESTING POLICY

   1. Urine tests will be conducted on all GBO Naturals pro qualifying class winners, overall division winners, and all professional division athletes earning a monetary win. Outside of those guidelines, it will be at the event promoter’s discretion to implement any additional testing on random basis.

   2. The GBO Naturals has implemented strict qualifying standards for testing and retesting procedures regarding drug use and athlete participation based on the following criteria: All GBO Naturals athletes must be free of all illegal performance-enhancing drugs for at least five (5) years.

   3. GBO Naturals bans the following substances and related compounds as listed below, their use constitutes grounds for dismissal from all GBO Naturals competitions and suspension from membership in GBO Naturals for a minimum of one (1) year up to five (5) years (based on the positive result of a specific panel).

   4. GBO conducts drug testing for: Comprehensive Steroid Panel and Diuretic Test Panel.

   5. Any urine test that is questionable will be subject to retesting and/or disqualification from GBO Naturals.

   6. An athlete’s test results will be shared with the athlete and the athlete only. GBO will never list an athlete’s name on our website due to failing a urinalysis drug test. This remains a private courtesy between Global Bodybuilding Organization and the athlete.

 

1. BANNED SUBSTANCES (for additional information see WADA prohibited list)

Any questions or approval requests must be submitted 90 days before the event date. All requests must be evaluated and will require additional items, such as doctor’s documentation for prescription medication, at the cost of the athlete. The documentation is recorded on a Global Bodybuilding Organization Therapeutic Use Exemption (TUE) Application Form. This application form can be denied as there are prohibited drugs in accordance to Wada rules that GBO will not approve through a TUE form. No documentation will be accepted at the event testing without a pre-approval.

1. 1. Anabolic Steroids – Testosterone / Epitestosterone

A T/E ratio in excess of 6/1 is ruled as positive, no matter what the cause. Note: should the use of any substance cause a T/E ratio in excess of the 6/1 limit, the athlete will be ruled as positive (failure). The T/E ratio is used to measure the presence of exogenous testosterone or illicit elevation of testosterone levels.

1. 1. Prescription Hormone Medication

Prescription hormone medication, taken for any reason, is banned. The presence of any banned substance in the urine, no matter how it arrived there is ruled as a positive (failure).

1. 1. FDA Banned Substances and Illegal Drugs

FDA banned substances and illegal drugs, when used for athletic or bodybuilding purposes, are banned.

1. 1. Prescription Diuretics

Fen-phen and all other weight loss substances used for bodybuilding purposes, even when physician prescribed, are banned by GBO Naturals, including those used as masking agents.

1. 1. Psychomotor Stimulants

Ephedrine and any derivative / Amphetamines. Clenbuterol, GHB, DNP (Dinitrophenol).

1. 1. Growth Hormones

Pharmaceutical HGH, HCG, and any other related compounds

1. 1. Hormone Antagonists and Modulators

• Aromatase inhibitors including, but not limited to: Anastrozole, Letrozole, Aminoglutethimide, Exemestane, Formestane, Testolactone

• Selective Estrogen Receptor Modulators (SERMs) including, but not limited to: Raloxifene, Tamoxifen, Tormifene

• Selective Androgen Receptor Modulators (SARMs) including, but not limited to: Ostarine, Andarine, MK-677

• Other anti-estrogenic substances including, but not limited to: Clomiphene, Cyclofenil, Fulvestrant

• Agents modifying Myostatin Function(s) including, but not limited to: Myostatin Inhibitors

 

1. 1. Over the Counter Supplements (OTC)

All athletes must be aware of what they are consuming including but not limited to vendor samples at an event and nutritional supplement products that are sold over the counter that may not be banned by the Federal Drug Administration (FDA). As a competitive athlete, it is your responsibility to research the products before you decide to purchase them for consumption and be aware of the drugs listed in each panel. Any urine test that is questionable will be subject to retesting and/or disqualification from GBO Naturals. Competitive athletes must be aware of the rules and regulations enforced by Global Bodybuilding Organization.
